Marcel has won international awards for creativity and has exceptional operational and strategic experience.
Having trained in Advertising and Graphic Design he has worked in a number of top direct marketing agencies including Payne Stracey (aka TBWA Payne Stracey) he setup digital agency edesigns.co.uk in 1999.
Originally created to service and sell his innovative eletterhead – the worlds first email branding product – he was quick to spot that there was a market in creatively applying traditional direct marketing techniques to digital mediums, especially with email.
edesigns.co.uk quickly became the UK’s first full service creative email marketing agency and a top 50 digital agency in 2004.
In 2005 Marcel formed Cowan Group, an integrated agency. Working through-the-line within digital & direct mediums the agency had a number of clients in the Leisure, Retail, Travel, Gaming and B2B sectors including Hush Puppies, Ann Summers, London Irish Rugby, Japan Tourist Organization, Paramount Restaurants, Everyman Cinemas, 888 and Balls Brothers.
Marcel led the business with his creative, strategic, relationship and revenue building approach. During this time he was also Chairman of the IAB Email Council for 3 years running.
In 2010, acknowledging the small Agency model had become even harder to sustain in today’s economic environment, Marcel took his core team, experience and expertise and setup The Island – allowing him to get back to working directly with clients whilst keeping the team lean and resource relevant.
Most recently Marcel has co-founded and launched Fansparks – the easiest way to engage Fans to share your content and harness your Fan-to-Fan network.
Very quickly the platform has gained traction running Fansparks for brands, businesses, sports clubs and artists including Jamie Cullum, The Wanted, London Irish Rugby and many more.
